There is never a weekend goes by that Clyde 1 pundit Hugh Keevins doesn’t annoy a Celtic fan. In fact, scratch that, annoy anybody. I mean I have covered plenty of his misgivings on here over the months.

But on Friday, Keevins made a disrespectful point on the show where he claimed that he would get a game for Celtic before Albian Ajeti does and lo and behold, Ajeti plays on Saturday and scores a brace to ram those words down Hugh’s throat.

On last nights show, the Daily Record journalist seemed to deride Ajeti’s goal scoring exploits by claiming he only had fifteen touches of the ball.

I’m not really sure the point of that as Ajeti’s job is to put the ball in the back of the net, but my overriding feeling is that Hugh thinks Ajeti doesn’t work hard enough for the team.

And a Celtic fan called the show to put Keevins straight. After discussing the potential of Filipe Jota, the fan didn’t hold back on Keevins, “I think  the wee guy is a box of tricks. He’s a good player.  I think he’ll do well for Celtic. But can I come back into you Hugh.

“There was a guy who was one of the best goal scorers in the world ever.

“A guy called Filippo Inzaghi he maybe had two or three touches a game but he would score so I don’t know why you are going on about the 15 touches.

“The guy’s there to put the ball in the back of the net so I think you are trying to patronise the guy.

“I think you are out of order.”

But I suppose this is Hugh’s reason d’etre on the show.

He is there to court controversy to encourage angry callers. I suppose a wee bit of credit for an under pressure Celtic player was too much to ask for.
