Brendan Rodgers is a Celtic manager that really divides opinion amongst the Celtic fans.

You don’t need me to tell you as you will all be well versed on this subject but as he continues with the impressive job he is doing at Leicester City, he completed a move in the transfer window this summer that will leave the Hoops fans thinking of what could have been.

During a post match press conference, Rodgers was talking up his new signing when he made the revelation that he was keen on taking Ademola Lookman to Parkhead at the start of his tenure as Hoops manager, “I’m really excited about working with Ade. He’s a top talent.

“I wanted to take him to Celtic when he was at Charlton. I was aware of him when he was 15.

“He has all the tools, he has a great dribbling ability, how he views the game, he has an eye for a goal.

“My hope is that this environment will give him a chance to flourish. Hopefully he can find a home here. I have no doubt the supporters will be excited by him.”

At the time, Rodgers was plotting his assault on Scottish football and whilst failure to secure the move back in 2017 when Lookman was at Charlton, Rodgers’ Hoops side still went on to complete an Invincible Treble.

Lookman eventually found himself at Everton but only managed to make seventeen appearances for the Toffee’s before his move to German side RB Leipzig.

The 23 year old is currently on loan at The Foxes and Rodgers has the option to buy at the end of the season.
