With less than two weeks to go in this summers transfer window, much of the focus has been on Celtic increasing their numbers in defence.

With the signing of Josip Juranovic now imminent and the likelihood of the Hoops signing Liam Scales from Shamrock Rovers at the end of the week no high, many fans will still believe that a left back, centre back and a striker should be a priority before the window closes.

According to Hugh Keevins on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Celtic should also look to adding more depth to the goalkeeping position.

With Vasilis Barkas clearly out the picture and Scott Bain deemed not good enough, that only leaves Conor Hazard as deputy to Hart, and it seems that this may not provide enough quality between the sticks.

Keevins makes a bold statement, and he’s not the first pundit to do so, and says Celtic should bring a former No 1 as a matter of priority, “I would get him (David Marshall) back in a heartbeat. Because, you know, again, Joe Hart, fine, but what do you when Joe Hart gets injured.

“For me. I’ll go back to one thing, Celtic spent three months earlier this year doing no business at all.

Should Celtic try and sign David Marshall?

“And a club of Celtic size should have been preparing better and should have been Ange Postecoglou better materials to work with.”

“And I do think that Marshall, would be a good addition.

“I think he would keep Joe Hart on his toes. There is no reason o think if Marshall came in, Joe would think of himself as being an automatic pick.”

Marshall has found himself surplus to requirements at Wayne Rooney’s Derby County and is currently third in the pecking order and with his contract expiring next June, Celtic could potentially pick him up for free.
