Isn’t it amazing what a couple of days bring in terms of transfer news?

All went quiet after the signing of Moritz Jenz last week and after the new season kicked off against Aberdeen on Sunday, pundits have been raving about Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley.

The January signing has made an instant impact at Celtic and has impressed the fans and reporters with his performances so far at the club.

Last season, the Danish u21 made twenty appearances for the club, scoring four and creating two which included a debut assist against Hearts in January.

Since then he went on strength to strength and just one game into the new season, he has already started to impress the Celtic support.

And, as it seems, Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers [The Daily Record].

But former Celtic star John Hartson has urged the club to demand ‘top dollar’ for their midfielder and had given his valuation on what we should demand from Rodgers should he come calling.

Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show, Hartson said, “Matt O’Riley is massive to Ange Postecoglou in the new season as they try to compete for four trophies.

“You’ve seen what he has done for Celtic already.

“He’s different class now and only going to get better. He looks very happy, enjoying his football and he’s got the Champions League.

“I would be very disappointed to see him go after such a short time at Celtic but if the club feels he has to go I would hope they ask for top dollar.

“I see Maddison being quoted at £50m, but does that make Maddison 10 times more expensive than a player playing in the SPFL?

“I’m not saying O’Riley is £50m but you would hope for £18m.”

Celtic should not be entertaining any bids in my opinion.

It’s far too early in his career at the club for talk of moving away and he has already proven himself an integral part of the Ange Postecoglou machine to be allowed to leave the club.

Especially after the departure of Tom Rogic.

Personally, I can’t see him leaving.

He is settled and getting first-team football and with one medal already to his name, I am willing to bet he is looking to add to that tally before he decides to try pastures new.

Matt is a Celtic player and a top class one. He is more important to us than any amount of money that can be offered. That goes for others in the squad as well.
    No bids should be entertained.
Ange knows who can be let go.
