As the Eddie Howe situation rumbles on to the next of never, a journalist gave some fascinating insight to the apparent behind the scenes negotiations currently taking place and the possible reasons for the hold up of any deal being concluded.

Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard journalist, Stephen McGowan, says the idea of Howe playing Celtic off for a move to Crystal Palace is a red herring and his last comment was really eye opening, “I think the two sides seem more relaxed about it than the fans are. The fans understandably want someone someone in tomorrow.  And I think a non negotiable point seems to be Bournemouth’s Technical Director, Richard Hughes coming along as well.

Do you think Eddie Howe will become the Celtic manager?

YES

NO

“I don’t know if he’s going to be Director of Football or Technical Director I think he’s going to head up the player scouting operation, maybe be a replacement for Nicky Hammond.

“Bournemouth are 5th  in the Championship.  They are right in the mix of the playoffs, he’s (Howe) involved in appointing a new manager. I think he’s reluctant to leave them in the lurch. The trouble is if they (Bournemouth) go all the way to the play off final that’s at the end of May!

So how long can Celtic wait?  We keep coming back to this.  Howe’s representative says he won’t reach a decision until the summer. Fans are threatened that he’s using Celtic as a bargaining tool with Crystal Palace.

“I think that’s a bit of a red herring, personally. I think the info coming from the Howe circle is he’s really tired of firefighting and relegation struggles and he fancies something different, the chance to manage in Europe and win trophies.

“I think Celtic fears he has been playing them off against other clubs is a bit overplayed. If I was down to my last tenner now, I’d still stick it on Howe for Celtic.

Extremely encouraging news from McGowan which will definitely be music to the ears of the Celtic fans. The monotony of the ‘will he, won’t he‘ saga is finally starting to grate with many fans and hopefully now, the manager situation will be coming to an end sooner, rather than later.
