Celtic’s latest signing Amido Balde has likened his playing style to Emmanuel Adebayor after arriving from Vitoria Guimaraes.

“Celtic fans can expect to see me scoring goals and setting up a few as well” – Amido Balde

The 22-year-old Portuguese striker joined the Hoops for a fee of around £1.8m on a four-year deal after nine goals in 27 games for his club last season.

However, Balde insists he shouldn’t simply be regarded as a possible straight replacement if leading scorer Gary Hooper departs Parkhead.

“I am here because I am 22 years old to learn from Gary, to follow him and take his example,” he told the Daily Record. “We don’t have the same similarities but he is a good striker.

“My style is more like Emmanuel Adebayor,” Balde continued. “The Celtic fans can expect to see me scoring goals and setting up a few as well.”
