Is it panic stations yet when it comes to Jota and CCV?
I certainly don’t think so.
With Celtic having first option on both the loan signings, I don’t think there is any undue need to worry about anything at the moment.
As I have written already today, there are two influential Spurs insiders that reckon Celtic will be Carter-Vickers destination in the summer.
For Jota? Not heard a thing.
Not a single solitary rumour since the Portuguese media dropped this one at the start of May.
But former Celt Chris Sutton reckons the Hoops need to move and move quickly if they want to seal the deal and he also suspects that all may not be as it seems with regards to both of them signing on long term.
Speaking on the Record Celtic podcast, Sutton said, “The one thing I would say about is if you’re a Celtic fan of course you’re nervous about it.
“Because the fact of the matter is there must be an issue or two which needs resolving because otherwise the players would have singed right? Or agreed to sign.
“So there are things to get over the line and then this leads to wild speculation.
“I mean, the fact of the matter is, if these two guys wanted to sign they would say we’re gonna get it done
“I don’t know, maybe I’m too simplistic, but that’s what I would think.
“If the deal was already done and they’ve agreed to stay, I know everybody loves a big announcement, but the longer this goes, the more concerning it will go.
“And of course, because of their performances last season and the consistency they showed, other clubs will be eyeing them up and looking at them and I’m sure they will be getting offers from other clubs.
“But from Celtics point of view, I think that it’s key they get both.
“I think Carter Vickers, say especially, but I think that his level of performance throughout the season, and consistency, I think he’s going to be so, so difficult to replace
“Jota, individual, super talented, gives Celtic a different dimension in that final third. He’s slightly different to anything else Celtic have got.
“But both players are going to be key if they do get signed for next season.
“But Carter Vickers, I mean from a from a Celtic perspective, Ange Postecoglou must be desperate to get that done.”
