Reported Celtic transfer target Liam Kelly has been warned against a move to the Hoops by his current boss at Livingston Gary Holt.

The Scottish Sun claimed yesterday that the Hoops were looking at a move for the shot-stopper this summer in a cut-price £50,000 deal.

The 23-year-old has been an impressive performer in the Scottish Premiership this season, helping Livi keep 17 clean sheets in all competitions.

Holt though believes a premature move away from the club could prove problematic when it comes to his development.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, the 46-year-old explained:

I’ve always said that teams only want your good players, so it shows what Liam is doing. But he is playing football and he has only played 30-odd games at this level.

So it’s something Liam will have to weigh up as well. He has got to think about what’s best for his career.

He took the choice to come here because he wanted to play, so he will want to continue that.

You don’t want to take a knock in your career by going somewhere maybe as a number two fighting for the number one.

Obviously Holt will want to keep one of his top performers for next season but he does have a point too.

Kelly is unlikely to get much action at Celtic Park due to the exceptional form of Scott Bain.

Craig Gordon could also potentially be ahead of him in the pecking order if he resolves his current fitness issues.

A club like Celtic often don’t come knocking twice though and a move to Glasgow right now would see him work with an excellent coach in Stevie Woods and the potential of becoming the club’s number one down the line.
