Celtic fans have been left fuming by the words of former player Davie Provan today, after he bizarrely heavily criticised captain Scott Brown in his Scottish Sun column.
The Sky Sports commentator claimed that Brown was ‘well down the list of proper Celtic players’ and ‘has to be the luckiest’ of the Hoops’ historic list of captains.
Coming less than 24 hours after Brown won his 18th trophy as a Celtic player it’s an incredibly bitter rant.
Elsewhere he uses the memory of Billy McNeill to further bash the long-serving Celtic midfielder, which seems especially low.
Why he’s quite felt the need to launch such a scathing attack on the player is beyond me and most Hoops supporters.
Media criticism is nothing new for Brown of course and he’ll no doubt shrug it off without batting an eyelid.
If anything he’ll use it as motivation to help the club secure a famous and unprecedented ‘treble treble’ of trophies in the Scottish Cup Final at the end of the month.
These fans have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts on Provan’s comments…
Davie Provan sticking the boot into Scott Brown this morning in his latest column. A tad embarrassing imo. Brown has just won his eighth successive title as Celtic captain, but Davie thinks that is “lucky.” To use the death of Cesar as a stick to beat Brown with is abhorrent.

Just read Davie Provan's article on @ScottBrown8 there in the Scottish S*n. Wow!! He doesn't miss him. It's pretty scathing and out of order. Just Wow.

Just seen this piece Davie Provan wrote on Broonie. Apart from it being bullshit of the lowest order, I’d love to know just why he felt the need to say that stuff? So unnecessary.

Davie Provan, Andy Walker and Charlie Nicholas. No coincidence all three deeply bitter men of dishonour earn their crust at @SkySports … three media prostitutes to highest bidder..
