As Celtic continue to be linked with all and sundry this January, a story broke yesterday that the Hoops could be looking to add Iranian wonderkid Mehdi Ghayedi to their ranks.
As the Hoops sealed their fifth signing of the window, it wasn’t long before another link was made and with Celtic gaffer, Ange Postecoglou, making reference to the Iranian market just a couple of months ago, it was just a matter of time before the club was linked with players from that part of the world.
The link with Ghayedi certainly got the fans excited and as news broke of a bid being made for the 23 year old, it seems that the excitement of the Hoops fans was a bit premature.
Popular Celtic fan account Everything Celtic tweeted last night that the clubs move for Ghayedi was not true and cited a surprising source for the story:

Now it seems that this was met with a mixed reaction as some fans believed the tweet whilst others claimed that young Ghayedi had just started following new signing Riley McGree on Instagram.
Whether who you follow on social media is a barometer of who you are going to sign for is a new one on me but what did catch my eye was the podcaster (Arya Allahverdi) and the podcast account (GolBezan) that Everything Celtic tagged in the tweet both liked it, which lends a bit more credibility to the story.
But, in a twist, Alllahverdi did recommend a player that Celtic should be looking at:
