“It looks like he’s downed tools and he’s ready to go” – Damning criticism of Celtic star

I wrote at the time that Christopher Jullien’s comments in the press were very ill timed and didn’t come across too well.

To use a well known Glasgow phrase, it looks like he’s spat the dummy.

Now, I was more angry when I read the interview in Goal but the words the £7m defender used, for me, may have spelled the end of his Celtic career under Ange.

On the day before trophy day and before the last game of Tom Rogic and Nir Bitton’s career as the Hoops, Jullien was complaining about his lack of game time and seemed to issue a ‘play me or lose me‘ demand to the Celtic boss.

And coupled with a dig at Ange for choosing to pick Bitton in the match day squad instead of him was just childish. Considering Stephen Welsh also gets picked ahead of him, but let’s not get involved in semantics, he really didn’t have a point.

And it seems I’m not the only one that feels that way.

Speaking on A Celtic State of Mind, Colin Watt was damning in his criticism of the defender and says it could be time for him to go, “He has spoke in the French press and it looks as if he has basically said that he’s been fit since mid January and he’s not been part of the gaffer’s plans, and he has said that if he isn’t going to be part of the plans as it stands, then he’ll be moving on in the summer, which I don’t think many people would argue against.

“He has put in one request, and that is that he plays ninety minutes tomorrow [for Saturdays match against Motherwell] and for that, I hope that we start with Cameron Carter-Vickers and Starfelt because no one tells Ange if they want to play or not.

“He decides if they get to play.

“He made a point and what he said is he is getting in the squad, he’s getting on the bench, but then, it seems, to been dropped for as he said, a midfielder who twilights at centre back.

“He’s obviously referring to the Nir Bitton, because I can’t think of anybody else that he could be talking about.

“So it just seems as if he’s one of these players, and I’ve watched him in the B team games”

“I don’t know if anyone else has seen it, but it’s not as if he’s put the performances out there and I guess he’s not doing it in training either to suggest that Ange has actually got the considerations and maybe play him.#

“It looks there looks that, for me, he’s downed tools and he’s ready to go.

“And if that’s the case, then yeah okay, you came in for a big transfer, you give us some good moments, but if you’re not part of the squad, then it’s time to go.”

And it is very telling that Jullien didn’t even make the bench on Saturday with Ange preferring to go with Stephen Welsh instead.

Have we seen the last of Jullien in the Hoops?

Decent player but powder puff up against strong centre forward. Lyndon Dkyes took him to the cleaners. I hope hink Ange will not be losing any sleep. Hopefully we get a decent transfer fee.

Ange wants a team of men unified in their quest to better themselves. Julien has been told – on your bike. Demanding to play ? Wow!! Be interested to see what “big” team comes in for him !!

He’s French. It’s what they’re famous for. They go in Le Sulk. Remember Nicolas Anelka? 🇨🇵🤷‍♂️
