It was a penalty – Rodgers

Brendan Rodgers believes Celtic were denied a blatant penalty at the end of their Old Firm draw with Rangers at Celtic Park.

The Hoops led at the interval through Stuart Armstrong’s goal but Clint Hill cancelled it out with just three minutes remaining.

Moments later Hill appeared to pull down substitute Leigh Griffiths inside the area but referee Bobby Madden was having none of it.

“It’s very disappointing that with four officials they don’t see that. It looked a clear penalty,” Rodgers told BBC Scotland. “Clint Hill said on the pitch to me afterwards that he got away with that. Clint’s a good guy, an honest fellow.

“On a difficult pitch I felt we weren’t as fluent as usual in the first half,” he added. “I thought we took the easy option on the ball. We were passing backwards and sideways instead of forwards. We made a change at half-time and I thought we had much better control in the second half and we looked like we were going to go on and score more goals.”
