Much has been said about the future of Leigh Griffiths. In fact, I think it is fair to say that many of the fans are at the end of their tether with the enigmatic frontman and would be glad to see him leave in the summer.

There are, of course, many other fans that love the guy. He’s a natural born goal scorer and one of the best finishers at the club. And with the size of the rebuild ahead of Celtic, is it a case of the Parkhead club really can’t afford to let him go?

The former Scotland striker has admitted that he has spoken to new Hoops gaffer Postecoglou and said that with the talks being positive, he thinks he will still be at Parkhead next season, “I spoke to the manager on Tuesday morning and things seemed positive.

“We’ll have another chat at the beginning of next week when he’s out of isolation and we’ll take it from there.

Should Leigh Griffiths be given another chance at Celtic?

“It was a massive thing for him just to give me a phone. He didn’t have to but he took time out his day and gave me his ideas and his plans moving forward.

“So it was a positive chat, we just need to wait until he’s out of isolation, we’ll have a chat face-to-face and we’ll see where we’re at.

“Every level I’ve played at, I’ve scored. There’s still a lot to come from me, I’m only 30-years-old and I’ve still got a lot of years left.”

There is no doubt that Griffiths, on his day, is deadly but since his incredible 40 goal haul back in season 2015/16 Griffiths has averaged just over 10 goals per season in the last 5 years. So is it time we put “the best natural finisher” tag to bed and let him go? Only Ange Postecoglou can make that call.
