The transfer window rumour mill is in full flow and everyone (including me) is looking hopefully at Ange Postecoglou to improve Celtic’s woeful recent record in that department.

With the absolute shambles of Diego Laxalt, Vasilis Barkas and Shane Duffy transfers of last season, the amount of money haemorrhaged from the club on these deals would bring a tear to a glass eye.

However, if this current rumour is to be believed them Celtic are on the brink of a deal that could earn the fans trust back in the transfer department.

Italian journalist Gianluigi Longari, has tweeted that Celtic have held talks with Hadjuk Split to sign their Croatian defender Mario Vuskovic.

Vuskovic has been on Celtic’s radar for some time now and it seems, with an initial £5m bid on the table, the Hoops are serious about getting their man.

The big Croat has a wealth of first team experience at Hadjuk and has been impressing visiting scouts from both Celtic and Serie A side, Torino, the Hungarians will be hopeful that a bidding war will force up the price of the 19 year old.

Although not capped at full international level yet, the young Croat is highly rated and tipped to be a star in the Croatian national squad.

With over twenty five caps at youth international level, it certainly won’t be long until Vuskovic will be earmarked to replace, what many regard, an ageing Croat national side after this year’s Euro’s.

Let’s hope Celtic can get this deal over the line in time for the Champions League qualification ties that start in less than four weeks time.
