On last nights The Go Radio Football Show, a caller was irate when he contacted the show to suggest whether current Scotland manager, Steve Clarke’s WAS really committed to leading the country to the Euro’s in the summer. Clarke has been the subject of constant speculation to take the Celtic manager position, but has so far refused to completely rule himself out of the running.

Host, Paul Cooney, was having none of it and took the caller to task whilst hinting that after the Euro’s, it could be a different story, “No, no, no. That man’s dedicated to it. No, that’s somebody having to reply to a negative. That’s somebody putting up this hypotheses. It’s not happening. It might afterwards. He’s the manager there until the Euros. I think that’s kind of unfair.”

Should Eddie Howe replace Neil Lennon?

YES

NO

Co host, Barry Ferguson also agreed with Cooney when he interjected,  “For me, he’s done a fantastic job. When he took over we were rock bottom.  Struggling with no confidence. He came in, he had a set way of playing. Listen, I mentioned it at the start of the show, it wasn’t great on the eye.  It was a gradual process.

“I didn’t enjoy watching the first two or three games and then you can see the confidence rising within the squad and the team, and eventually he got results and he got us to somewhere that nobody’s got us to for the last 23 years.  He’s got us to the Euros, along with his players and he’ll be here to take us to the Euros.”

Scotland kicked off their World Cup qualifying campaign last week and after drawing with Austria and Israel, the Scots took three points after a 4-0 thrashing of the Faroe Islands at Hampden Park last night.

With speculation now at fever pitch, it seems that current favourite, Eddie Howe, may be the boards man after after claims that there was a split amongst the power brokers at Celtic Park with Roy Keane also high up on the Parkhead list.
