It was a thing of beauty. A pin could be heard dropping a million miles away when Japan Times reporter Dan Orlowitz was giving the team from A Celtic State of Mind a run down of what the Celtic fans can expect from Postecoglou’s swashbuckling style of football.

Many commentators have praised the new Celtic manager’s style of football he played at previous clubs but serious questions have been raised about Ange’s teams defensive record.

Orlowitz confirmed that Postecoglou’s main objective is attack first and defend second and that is something that I think Celtic fans should be concerned about.

But when probed on his experience watching Yokohama F Marinos Orlowitz said, “I am not here to defend Postecoglou on his defending. Even Ange Postecoglou most of the time will not defend Postecoglou’s defending. He is far more concerned with his build up and his attack and his finishing.

“Then he tends to be about his backline. That’s not to say that he doesn’t care about defending but attacking is just at the core, at the fringes of his philosophy. Now, if you look at the results that Marinos has achieved in 2018. There was a lot of inconsistency, they did give up a lot of goals that season, scored 56. Second best in the league. Gave up 56.

Is Ange Postecoglou the man for the Celtic job?

YES

YES

NO

NO

“I think that all of us who covered the J League have been asked the question which is what does Ange need to succeed? And all of us have given the same answer, which is that he needs patience and understanding. And all of us have been told the same thing, which is that no f****** way is he going to get that at Celtic”

The team at ACSOM where clearly taken aback at Orlowitz but he is correct. There is no way Postecoglou will get time at Celtic. He will need to hit the ground running and hit it hard as Celtic fans WILL expect silverware next season AND a better performing defence.
