It’s fair to say that things are looking pretty grim at Celtic at present. Despite our impressive record in the SPFL, as well as our cup form, suddenly things are looking a tad worse.

Indeed, according to the BBC, our manager Brendan Rodgers is set to leave the club in favour of a move to Leicester City – leaving us in a tough spot boss heading into the final few months of the season.

Obviously, this is terrible news, and though Neil Lennon is set to come in to replace him, there’s no denying that we’re taking a step down by losing Rodgers.

However, John Hartson has taken to Twitter to discuss the reports, and he’s said exactly what fans need to hear. He’s poured cold water on the notion that losing him is a disaster – and he’s reminded everyone of where the club is at right now.

He said: ‘Timing of Rodgers departure is woeful, can we move on now… there is a League Championship to win and a Scottish Cup that would give us an historic Triple treble. He’s gone not any 1 person is bigger than Celtic Football Club.’

Celtic had a long and storied history prior to Rodgers’ arrival, and the club will certainly continue to grow long after he’s gone. We’re losing someone special, of course, but there will be a long queue of people that want to take on the job long-term.

As Hartson notes, we’ve still got a lot to fight for this season, and so if Rodgers does leave, we have to keep focused and finish the job.
