The performance last night from the team was abject.

Is that the best way to describe it? Abject? Let me know in the forum and I’ll reply to as many comments as I can.

Maybe abject is too strong. It was certainly very disappointing though.

I can’t think of a single Celtic player that stood out for me and that is something because almost every game we have at least two or three people vying for man of the match.

John Hartson was describing the performance of the players on BT Sport last night and made a comment that left me scratching my head, “A very disappointing evening.

“I thought the endeavour and willingness was there from the players, they gave absolutely everything.

“When you talk about quality, Celtic have quality in abundance. It just didn’t happen for them tonight.

“You might question… Ange might look at himself in terms of the system that he played and the personnel.

“Because within 10 minutes of the second half, Hatate has come on, Rogic has gone off, O’Riley ended up going off.

” Jota, again, lots of endeavour and lots of the ball but it was just one of those nights.

“Every time Bodo/Glimt went forward they looked a threat, they’re a very good side and Celtic are up against it.”

I’m not sure about you but did those players give everything? I mean REALLY give everything?

If they did then I didn’t see it. Now that’s not me saying they didn’t try because of course they did.

Put it this way. Which player for you got pass marks because I am struggling to think of one. Possibly Starfelt.

But maybe this performance was coming. We saw glimpses of it in the first half against Raith Rovers.

But let’s hope that as we return to league duty on Sunday, the team get back to that sparkling form that we have all become accustomed to.

Hi….Hartsons comments are not untrue. The players have much more quality than shown last night….but failed to shine…imo…for various reasons.
I’ve never been a believer in squad rotation….you should always play your best team available.
Our formation last night was again changed…..and certain players just don’t fit together.
Left back is weak….but weaker when Starfelt and Taylor are both out there….and Bodo had done their homework on us and exploited that weakness.
I didn’t know a lot about Bodo so watched several videos on Monday and followed that up by commenting my concerns the same day on my page, honestly celtic.
Our players last night sat off the Bodo players far too much and allowed them time to collect …look around and make a pass or move with the ball.
I stated Monday we needed the midfield to be tight on them and the defence to be quick to pick up what got past the midfielders.
Maeda got a goal and did a power of running and chasing….but he ain’t the tallest on the park…despite that our guys fired in high balls for one of the smallest men on the park.
I.realise Maeda got one…but most service last night was wasted.
The match…IMO….was lost because the midfield failed to provide good enough service upfront, and failed to properly close down the Bodo midfield quickly enough.
Although.i believe we can play much better, the lineup has to change….and our wingers need to get more aggressive in attacking the fullbacks.
Last night Abada continually crossed balls despite having tomes he could have hit the line or at least squared up to the full backs.
Indeed at one point it opened up on the wing for Abada and he had a load of space to run towards goal…but opted to play a pass which didn’t come off.
Bad decisions at times…poor service ….and a weak left defence, along with not closing down cost us.
On the matter of rotation…we need a more consistent team selection fir players to understand each other better.

Hard one over there next week….because they are stronger there than away…..and I don’t see us score 3 without reply.

Anges done a marvelous job so far, but he has to learn more for Europe…..

It seems to me our levels have dropped a lot since defeating the orcs….despite maintaining our win run up till last night.
We need to get to the level we showed against the orcs from now till the end of the season again.

    Just my opinion….hh

I thought personally we were mediocre apart from CalMac who was good and the only player to get pass marks from me. Jota as good as he’s been looked average at best but he wasn’t alone in that regard. To be honest I couldn’t care less about Europe this season and from what Ange inherited we’ve surpassed anything I thought we’d achieve on the continent and domestically. My priority is the league, even the most optimistic Celtic supporter if they’re honest had probably written this season off but Ange has given us hope where previously there was none. What he’s achieved so far as Celtic manager is remarkable. He’s taken a shitshow and turned us into a decent side playing scintillating football in patches and once we get where he wants us to be we’ll be a scary animal. We all knew this was a season of transition and we weren’t expecting much but he’s got us believing in his team and his footballing style. I think this team will have it’s European adventure soon enough but this season was too soon for them. Ange has hardly put a foot wrong since he came in and he shouldn’t be judged harshly if, as looks likely, we go out of this competition. Bodo Glimdt are a really good side you don’t beat Roma 6-1 and get a 2-2 draw at the Stadio Olimpco if you’re a bad side. I know we’re only at the half way point of this game and hopefully we can’t be as bad over there as we were on Thursday night but realistically our chances of progressing are minimal at best. As I alluded too earlier this side’s time in Europe will come and we’re far exceeding anything we could’ve hoped for so far under our new manager. I hope our support realise that the team need us to be patient we’re a work in progress and that takes time. In Ange we trust and we shouldn’t waiver from that.
