Celtic have been brilliant this year, but could the second half of our season be even better? There’s certainly reason to believe that it might.

The team should be reinvigorated by the winter break, whilst the arrival of a couple of new faces should keep everyone on their toes and help to give us a bit of extra firepower heading into the business end of the campaign.

Indeed, it seems obvious that the best is yet to come at Celtic, and that’s certainly the belief of former Bhoy John Hartson.

Writing in his Evening Times column, he said: ‘I don’t think the team has hit the heights that they are capable of at times this season and I definitely think there is room for improvement. But this cluster of home games could be key to just letting them find their groove again’.

It’s worth noting that six of our next seven games in all competitions are at home.

Hartson clearly has been impressed by Celtic this season, but he thinks that good things could be coming at Celtic Park. And it’s true, we’ve been inconsistent at points this term, and without those short periods, we would certainly have even more points in the league.

However, what should worry rival fans is the fact that although we haven’t been at our best, we’re still leading the way in Scotland. With a few new players on the books and a renewed sense of vigour owing to the winter break and our new signings, if we continue to improve, we’ll be able to leave those behind us in the dust.
