The Josip Juranovic transfer saga is one that is kind of splitting the Celtic fan base right now.

With some fans happy for the Croatian defender to leave there are others that would like to see him stay on for just one season longer.

I am kind of inbetween.

If he left I wouldn’t be too bothered just as if he stayed then I would be happy enough.

Whilst I don’t disagree he is a good right back, we still have Anthony Ralston and the possible addition of Alistair Johnston it seems that Ange certainly has this situation under control.

But how much can we realistically expect to fetch for Juranovic?

£10m? £15m?

Journalist Sean Martin says the Celtic fans need to be realistic on what they should expect to get for Jura and the figure is nowhere near what, he claims, some fans expect to get.

Speaking on The Celtic Way podcast, Martin said, “I’ve pretty much made my thoughts clear on the Juranovic thing since the summer.

“Not really changed my mind in terms of that checklist that I was talking about during the summer in regards to his age [experience, caps etc…].

“I do think that the £25 million or whatever it was that people were talking about was pie in the sky.

“And more to the point is there a situation where he might want to go whether it’s January or the summer.”

I can’t recall anyone suggesting that Juranovic will fetch anywhere in the region of that kind of money if I am honest.

From conversations on social media, from what I can see, the general consensus of opinion is that anything between £12m-£15m would be a great bit of business.

As long as it’s invested back into the team,I don’t think many fans will complain.

Who said £25 mill? I’ve never saw that amount being bandied.

I am concerned with the serious misconception of some fans in regards to Anthony Ralston.
The fact is if Josip Juranovic leaves and we do NOT have a first choice replacement, we will be extremely vulnerable down that side. Sure, Ralston is an accademy graduate, and one of the most improved players in Paradise. But these facts alone don’t qualify him as being a genuine candidate for our first choice right back.
Stop allowing the sentiment rule your head!
Juranovic is a top level full back and would command a starting spot in most clubs in Britain.
If he goes we MUST have a quality FULL TIME replacement. Ralston is NOT that guy!
I have no fears with him as a back-up, but that’s it.

Even if we only get 10 million if he leaves, its still going to be at least treble what sevco will get for fat man.

Juranovic is our best right back since McGrain. Would be a disaster to lose him.
