Motherwell have turned down a £200,000 bid from Celtic for goalkeeper Trevor Carson.

Carson, 29, only joined the Steelmen on a three-year deal from Hartlepool United following a £100,000 move last summer.

He also includes earlier spells at Cheltenham Town and Bury having originally begun his career with Sunderland.

“It would have to be a very good bid to let Trevor go,” Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson admitted to BBC Scotland. “It would certainly make things very difficult for me.

“Player’s valuations go up and down depending on what point in the window you’re at because the closer you are to the end then the timescale to replace them becomes very difficult.”

The Hoops are seeking additional cover following Craig Gordon being ruled out for around twelve weeks with an ankle injury.
