Celtic received a major boost ahead of their Champions League tie with Juventus as goalkeeper Fraser Forster returned to full training.

“We felt it would be better to get a good week of work before the Champions League” – Neil Lennon

The Hoops face the current Serie ‘A’ leaders next week in the first-leg of their last sixteen tie at Celtic Park.

Forster has missed the last five games with a neck injury, including the weekend Scottish Cup fifth round victory at first division Raith Rovers.

But he was expected to return for the forthcoming visit to second-placed Inverness Caledonian Thistle on Saturday lunchtime, just three days prior to the much-anticipated arrival of the Turin giants.

“Fraser should be OK for next weekend. The plan is to get him a game before Juventus,” manager Neil Lennon told The Scotsman. “He’s itching to play and could have gone away with England, but we felt it would be better to get a good week of work before the Champions League.”

Meanwhile, Lennon is also due to check on the fitness of both Emilio Izaguirre and Georgios Samaras.
