Kennedy Linked To FC Midtjylland

|

John Kennedy is being lined up as the potential new Head Coach of FC Midtjylland. This news has been reported by Danish Media outlet BT, the Daily Record reported. With the report going onto say that Kennedy would be “very interested in the role”.

Kennedy first burst onto the scene at Celtic as a standout youth player, signing his professional contract the same day as Stephen McManus. He made his first team debut in 1999/2000 season, but it was in 2003/24 season that he came into prominence, receiving praise for his performance in the 0-0 draw in March 2004 at the Nou Camp against Barcelona. He made his international debut the same month in a friendly against Romania, where he suffered a horrific injury putting him on the shelf for almost 3 years. Indeed, his playing career never really recovered and after further injuries to his knee. Kennedy announced his retirement from football in 2009 aged only 26.

Since that time Kennedy has worked for Celtic in a variety of capacities, working firstly as a scout, then once gaining his coaching badges, he earned his stripes with the Under 19 side and Development Team, before becoming First Team Coach with the appointment of Ronnie Deila in 2014. He has worked with a variety of managers and in February 2021 was appointed caretaker manager following the resignation of Neil Lennon.

John is someone who has served Celtic well and we wish him the best in any future career decisions he makes.
