The transfer stories are really ramping up this week and it is not wonder.

Five signings in ten days will really whet the  appetite of the Celtic fans and it is little wonder.

We have never witnessed a transfer window like this in years and as the fans look at Ange Postecoglou’s record in the transfer market from the summer, they really can’t wait to see how the new signings fare next Monday when the SPFL resumes.

But there are a couple of positions that the fans believe still need strengthening and that is the left back and back up goalkeeper.

Clearly, both these positions won’t be looked at until some of the ‘deadwood’ already at the club are moved on.

Players like Vasilis Barkas and Boli Bolingoli will need to be moved on before the Celtic boss looks to add to these positions but even if he decided to do it now, who should he add?

Kieran Devlin of The Athletic has recommended three possible names that could add quality in his latest piece.

The first, Sergio Gomez from Anderlecht. Valued at £8m [Transfermarkt] that is where my interest ended. With the outlay already made in this window and the hopes of signing Jota and Carter Vickers on long term deals, there is absolutely no way, the Hoops board will shell out that kind of money for the 21 year old.

The second. Ryan Giles from Wolves is another 21 year old with a value of just under £2m [Transfermarkt] seems more withing Celtic’s reach and Devlin puts a good case for him. An attack minded left back, the youngster has nine assists in twenty one games for his loan club Cardiff City.

Finally, Devlin tips Josh Doig as a possible solution to Celtic’s left back area. Well known by the Hoops fans and at just 19 years old, the Scotland u21 star is valued at just under £3m and it would take a large offer to try and tempt Hibs to part with their starlet, who is under contract until 2025.
