As Celtic are set to face Legia Warsaw in a farewell match for Artur Boruc, his club released a stunning statement about the former Hoops keeper as tickets for his testimonial went on general sale.

The statement, released on Legia.net said, “There are events that happen only once.

“There are moments that stay with us forever.

“Finally, there are people who have made history with golden sounds. This is the case with Artur Boruc.

“Legend, King, but above all – Legionnaire.

“As he says: his heart always beat for the Legion. He showed his love for the club for many years.

“It was Boruc who impressed thousands of Legia fans with his excellent attitude on the pitch.

“Adored in the fan community and always devoted to the Warsaw team, today he invites you to the King’s Party, an event dedicated to him, the King!”

Boruc made 194 appearances for the Hoops and was affectionately known as ‘The Holy Goalie’ amongst the fans.

During his time at Paradise, Boruc picked up three Scottish titles, a league cup and Scottish Cup.

He was also capped 65 times for his country before he retired at the age of 42 years old having finished his career at his boyhood club.
