Legia Warsaw have failed in their appeal against expulsion from the Champions League and recent opponents Celtic thus remain in the competition.

“The appeal lodged by the Polish club was rejected” – UEFA statement

The Poles were thrown out for fielding an ineligible player during their 6-1
aggregate triumph over the Scottish champions.

“The appeal lodged by the Polish club was rejected and, therefore, the original decision of the Uefa Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body is confirmed,” read a UEFA statement.

Celtic now take on NK Maribor in the play-off round. The Hoops’ two ties are scheduled for 20th and 26th August, with the first-leg in Slovenia.

Legia are meanwhile consigned to a Europa League play-off with Aktobe.
