Ralf Rangnick and RB Leipzig are in confident mood ahead of their trip to face Celtic in Glasgow on Thursday night, after destroying Hertha BSC away from home this weekend.

Leipzig, currently sitting fourth in Bundesliga, won 3-0 away to Hertha thanks to a double from Timo Werner and an effort from Matheus Cunha, who also scored against the Hoops the last time the two sides met.

Rangnick is now desperate for his team to get back to action, with Celtic in his sights.

As quoted by The Daily Record, he said in the wake of yesterday’s match:

“When you see how well we performed, it makes you desperate for the next game so we want to play Celtic now! I am genuinely excited about this team. We go into every game thinking we will score goals and the defence have been great recently and have tightened up.”

Striker Timo Werner was also quoted by the paper, with the German international also excited to try and pick up a win away from home in European competition.

They have reason to be confident of course having beaten us 2-0 in the first meeting, but they’ll find that Celtic are an entirely different beast at home Europe than away.

The pressure is definitely on Brendan Rodgers’ side to pick up a victory. A failure to win would severely set back our chances of making it into the knockout stages of the competition.

Let’s hope Leipzig’s eagerness to play us looks like hubris after the final whistle on Thursday.
