Bolingoli unlikely to be “welcomed back” as Lennon issues scathing criticism of Celtic star
Neil Lennon has issued a scathing assessment of Boli Bolingoli’s behaviour after the full-back’s unauthorised trip to Spain led to Celtic’s next two games being postponed.
The Hoops gaffer’s Champions League plans are now in disarray, and The Daily Record has reported Lennon’s first comments since the incident was made public and he made it perfectly clear what his thoughts were:
“It will be very difficult to imagine him (Bolingoli) being welcomed back into the dressing room in the future.
“This is a rogue who has gone off tangent and has done something very very selfish. We have been completely oblivious to this. I’m absolutely livid it’s a total betrayal of our trust.
“We gave players a couple of days off after Hamilton. We made it clear to players they were not to leave Glasgow. Boli took flight to Spain on Monday and kept it to himself.
“We have been bitterly let down by an individual. I didn’t want to hear his excuse. He has blatantly disregarded our instructions.
“There’s anger and disappointment from the squad. It’s just simply not good enough and it’s disrupted our plans.”
To suggest that the player may not be “welcomed back into the dressing room” is a damning indictment and implies that even though the internal investigation is still to be concluded, his future in a green and white hooped shirt is likely to be short lived.
What should happen to Bolingoli?
Leigh Griffiths may have bent the rules in recent days and been a nuisance in the past but even he has never caused games to be called off or potentially cost his team access to the Champions League, fans of the Parkhead side will now wait with baited breath and fingers poised over keyboards as the fate of Bolingoli is decided.
