Neil Lennon feels so absolutely privileged to have followed legendary names Jock Stein and Billy McNeill and led Celtic to a glorious domestic double.

“It’s very special to join those two icons at the club” – Neil Lennon

The Northern Irishman had already won the double three times as a player before achieving it as a manager last season. Added to that was progress to the last sixteen of the Champions League.

“To win the double as a player was great but to win it as a manager is just fantastic.” Lennon told Celtic’s official website. “It’s very special, personally, to join those two icons at the club – that’s what you do the job for. It was special playing, but this means so much more to me on a personal level.

“When I got the job I wanted to follow in their footsteps,” he continued. “We’re progressing well now, that’s the double on the back of a great European campaign.”
