Quoted by Celtic TV, manager Neil Lennon has suggested that there could well be several players from the youth set-up that could break into the first team before too long.
The Hoops have got some fantastic young players at the club at the moment and we saw another one come into the first-team at the weekend as Jeremie Frimpong featured in the hammering of Ross County.
Certainly, he looked a bright spark and follows the likes of Karamoko Dembele as a teenager to feature under Neil Lennon in recent times.
It seems as though we have a fair few more on their way under the former Hibernian manager too.
He said – as quoted by Celtic TV:
“[Jonathan] Afolabi will come under that category as well, Lee O’Connor, Luca Connell.
“So we’re building, not just for the present with the current first-team squad, but for the talent underneath that.
“You’ve got [Karamoko] Dembele, you’ve got [Armstrong] Oko-Flex, you’ve got Kerr McInroy coming back hopefully from a long-time injury pretty soon as well, you’ve got Daniel Arzani.
“So there’s young, hungry talent underneath what we already have in a solid first-team squad.”
We all want to see young players coming into the side and making an impact as they are the future of the club – it sounds as though we’ve got several that could really help us in the coming years too.
