Celtic manager Neil Lennon believes skipper Scott Brown still needs to undergo surgery on a troublesome hip injury.

“I can’t force him to have surgery, but eventually the medical team think he will require it” – Neil Lennon

The 27-year-old recently cancelled a scheduled operation and appeared for most of the duration in the crucial midweek Champions League victory against Spartak Moscow.

“He doesn’t want to have surgery, so we’re going to manage it,” Lennon told BBC Scotland. “I can’t force him to have surgery, but eventually the medical team think he will require it.

“He’s feeling good and had a remarkably good game the other night,” he added. “Training all the time will just keep him going.”

However, the problem has constantly affected Celtic’s inspirational captain this season and regularly restricted his club appearances, while also forcing his withdrawal from the national squad.
