Lennon to give into league cup final temptation according to Celtic legend

|

Former Celtic skipper, Jackie McNamara, feels that Neil Lennon will consider playing Odsonne Edouard in Sunday’s Betfred Cup final even if the Frenchman is not fully fit.

Speaking to Football Insider, McNamara thinks that it will be hard for Lennon to leave Edouard out on such a big occasion.

What did McNamara say?

When asked if Lennon will throw Edouard in at the deep end, McNamara said:

“Yeah, I think he will. He’ll have a look at it, he’s not played in the last two games but he might have been tempted to put him in”.

“He’s managed to have every opportunity to be fully fit for Sunday”.

So is McNamara right?

If Leigh Griffiths was fit then Edouard would probably take his place on the bench but with Vakoun Bayo also injured and Griffiths still not 100%, Edouard is likely to be the man to lead the line.

Lewis Morgan has been an able deputy if not quite carrying the same goal threat but the Hoops have hardly struggled for goals in his absence, they have also won every game – albeit some more comfortable than others.

Lennon will know that he has enough between his two strikers to get through the 90 and, if necessary, 120 minutes of football. In previous seasons, Scott Sinclair would’ve filled the central role without much fuss but because of his current contract position and status at the club Morgan has kept him on the bench.

Who would you start up front on Sunday?

The adored, Edouard is a proven match winner, a man for the big occasions and they don’t come much bigger than the two Glasgow giants competing for silverware, never mind 80-90% fit, if “French Eddy” is anywhere near 50%, expect to see him take centre stage at Hampden on Sunday.
