Manager Neil Lennon insists Amido Balde and Derk Boerrigter must show major improvements to have futures with Celtic.

“They will maybe think that they haven’t had the opportunity but they must do better” – Neil Lennon

Neither managed to take advantage of a rare start against St Johnstone in
midweek having experienced difficult first seasons at the club.

Meanwhile, fellow forward Teemu Pukki at least received some promising words of encouragement from his boss.

“Teemu has got better as the season has gone on,” Lennon told the Daily Record. “Amido will probably say that he hasn’t had enough game time. Derk has been littered with injuries. They will maybe think that they haven’t had the opportunity but they must do better.

“Pukki I was really pleased with on Wednesday, he still has something to give,” he added. “To be fair to Teemu, the form of Griffiths, Stokes and Commons has meant it has been difficult for him to break in.”
