Neil Lennon made an inspired if somewhat surprising selection in his starting XI when the team was announced prior to their 3-1 Europa League victory over Rennes.

Lewis Morgan was catapulted into the starting line-up, not only that, but he took the place of Odsonne Edouard who was being protected the help recover from a “little niggle“.
With Leigh Griffiths in full training and returning to first-team action, many thought, with qualification secured, that he could get the nod, but it was the signing from St Mirren that had the daunting task of filling French Eddy’s boots.
Who should start up front against Ross County?
Lewis Morgan
Leigh Griffiths
Morgan fully justified his selection with the opening goal after just 21 minutes which served as a further reminder that maybe Lennon does know more than your average Hoops fan on Twitter!
Iโm convinced i can make it in professional football if Morganโs getting a game in Europe

Morgan. Beat it.

Lol. It’s mad that Lenny thinks young Morgan is above Sinclair in the pecking order. Good luck to Lewis but I can’t get my head round that at all.

Lennon may just have stumbled upon Morgan’s best position for Celtic and saved them having to dip into the transfer market in January to seek re-enforcements in support of Edouard. It has been a big step up for the forward and maybe now he will have the confidence to reach the performance levels that saw him earn a move to Parkhead in the first place.
