Talksport has a habit of talking down the Scottish game.
In fact, lets call it as it is. They are disrespectful to Scottish football.
Any opportunity to berate our game is taken by the pundits on a variety of their shows and a classic example of that is Simon Jordan’s disparaging remarks against former Celtic defender Kieran Tierney.
Speaking on his show with Jim White, Jordan said, “Tierney? He’s a Scot, so he’s used to failure, I’m not sure if that’s the leadership qualities we want.”
Now of course it is a ridiculous notion.
I think I am correct in saying that last season was the only season Tierney has failed to win silverware since turning professional so Jordan’s comments are probably more of a reflection on his lack of knowledge about Scottish football than anything else.
Former Celtic striker John Hartson was having none of it on The Go Radio Football Show as he raged, “Simon Jordan, what on earth are you talking about?
“The proof is there.
“How can he say that Kieran will never be an Arsenal captain because he’s Scottish. What a pile of nonsense.”
An avid defender of Celtic and the Scottish game, Hartson was genuinely raging at Jordan’s comments so host, Paul Cooney, called Jim White to appear on the show and he revealed the massive amount of respect the Arsenal fans have for the former Celtic favourite.

Clearly Jordan was at the wind up but it does seem that Tierney is held in high regard by the Arsenal fans as he is being tipped to take over the captaincy role.
