Paul McGowan has had a very small Celtic career. The highlight has to be scoring in the 91st minute in the Europa League in 2009 to complete a sensational comeback, making the score Rapid Vienna 3-3 Celtic. He has spent time on loan at Morton and Hamilton in the past and, aged 23, in August 2010 was sent on loan to St Mirren, so it is implied that he is not needed by Celtic.
Paul wears the number 19 shirt for St Mirren. He scored his first competitive for the Saints in a League Cup match v Ross County. He has been well in favour whilst with the Saints, making no less than 23 starts, but has failed to add to his tally since that goal at Ross County. Usually on his return to Parkhead he is sent out on lengthy loan spells to weaker teams in Scotland. It’s obvious by now for both Celtic and Paul McGowan that he isn’t in Celtic’s criteria for the road ahead.
