As the transfer window approached like a freight train, Celtic have been linked to many players already across the globe.

Fernando Henrique, Daizen Maeda and Lee Buchanan have all been strongly linked with moves to Paradise in the January window but one major Celtic fan site looks to be urging Celtic to look closer to home at an international player who is out of contract in the summer.

Twitter account, Everything Celtic, tweeted to their eighteen thousand followers that Celtic should be looking at Hearts Scottish international defender John Souttar.

Souttar is out of contract in the summer and could be picked up for a nominal fee in January as Hearts would be keen to avoid losing him for free in the summer, “John Souttar Hearts centre-back John Souttar has been a revelation in the capital since returning from a long-term injury. The 25 year old is out of contract next summer, should Celtic be contemplating bringing him to the club?”

The tweet was met with relative posititviy amongst the Hoops fans but the account did say that although Souttar may not be at the level to start every week, he would be a great player to bring off the bench and add depth to a well documented depleted squad, “I wouldn’t say Souttar is at the level needed to be starting every week for a club like Celtic however there’s no shying away from the fact he’s certainly been impressive this season.

“If a deal could be struck to get him in then I’m all for it, if anything it adds some depth.”
