The transfer of Ryan Christie to Bournemouth a few days before the summer window closed, although expected, was a strange one.

Not that he moved, it was the choice of club.

As most Celtic fans hoped that the Scotland international would extend his stay as he seemed to be enjoying his football under Ange Postecoglou, Christie chose, instead, to ply his trade in England’s second tier.

As many questioned his motives, Christie himself said that he chose The Cherries as he always had a soft spot for the club.

Clearly since he left the Hoops have missed the dynamism he provided in the midfield and will no doubt look to find a replacement in the January window and Celtic have been urged by Football Fancast to reignite their interest in a former summer target.

Vital Celtic reported back in July that the Hoops had made contact with Gorica about a move and a €5m fee was the figure being banded about then.

Kristijan Lovric was hot on the Celtic radar this summer and the Parkhead club were reported to have held talks with Gorica about a possible move, but interest cooled and the Croatian winger stayed at the mid table strugglers.

Lovric has been in great form so far this season, scoring three and creating three in ten appearances as the first division club find themselves seven points off table toppers Osijek.

Over the course of his career at Gorica, Lovric has made 106 appearances scoring an incredible 49 goals and creating 26 assists.

For a winger that is simply outstanding and there is absolutely no doubt he could tear it up in Postecoglou’s team, especially with the amount of possession the Hoops have per match.

But the stumbling block, as ever, could be the price tag and as Lovric continues his brilliant form this season, his value will only rise.

Will the Celtic board be of a mind to spend that kind of serious cash?
