What’s been said about Kieran Tierney that hasn’t already been said before? The boy is an outstanding footballer. No question.

When Arsenal signed him for £25m I bet they never thought they were getting a steal. Yes a steal. Because that’s exactly what it was.

Since Tierney has made the move to London he has quickly established himself to become the best player at the Emirates.

So much so that Arsenal have offered him a 5 year contract which will more or less double his salary.

One man that thinks it will benefit the Gunners in the long term and inadvertently, Celtic, is reporter and pundit Mark Guidi.

Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show, Guidi reckons now that Tierney is tied up on a new deal, Arsenal could command an astronomical fee, “I mean it can be a fattening him up exercise, you know, he doubles his money.

“And therefore Arsenal  rather than maybe only getting £50 million for him it might be up to £70 or £80 million.

“Mikel Arteta may end up taking him with him wherever his next move is gonna be.

“If he’s, you know, as we think that he may be in the running for the Barcelona job at some stage in the next year two.

“But great news for Kieran Tierney.”

Quite the prediction by Guidi and don’t get me wrong, Tierney could without doubt grace the Catalan pitch. No problem at all. But is Arteta’s reasoning of offering him a new contract with a view to taking him to club he isn’t even at yet? That doesn’t make any sense at all.

Whatever happens in the future, one thing is guaranteed. Celtic’s sell on clause is going to turn out to be a fantastic piece of business
