This has been a merry go round this one hasn’t it?

From the trumpeted announcement of Celtic singing Australian international Riley McGree, to the news breaking last night that the deal could be hijacked by Middlesbrough, what has happened since the deal being announced to the potential collapse?

According to reliable journalist, Alan Nixon, the deal for the player is not completely dead yet for the Hoops.

But as Celtic face stiff competition for the Charlotte FC player, it does seems as though Middlesbrough are in the driving seat to capture his signature.

When asked on twitter if the Middlesbrough rumour was false and if the player was even in the country, Nixon replied:

But as the answer was followed with a question on whether or not The ‘Boro will get the deal over the line, Nixon replied:

As Vital Celtic wrote earlier this morning, this player comes very highly rated and an Australian blogger wrote a great piece in The Roar (Australia’s leading sports opinion website) about McGree’s rise to stardom, it was in the comments that gave a great insight into what went on in the early hours of the morning.

Celtic fans, and Ange Postecoglou, will be hopeful that the deal will still go through, but with the English Championship club reportedly [Daily Mail] offering £5m AND a larger contract, it seems the riches of the English leagues may be too much to turn down for the young Australian.
