This was going to be the real tester wasn’t it?

Just a week since the whole country condemned the racist abuse of Kyogo Furuhashi, the eyes of not only Scotland, but the world, were on our game as both Glasgow giants squared up to each other in the first, and long awaited, Glasgow Derby of the season.

This afternoon, videos surfaced of Rangers fans marching, again, through the City Centre, again, with a police escort, again, chanting anti Irish racist songs, again, and telling Celtic fans ‘to go home’.

I will not post the link here and give these cretins any exposure. It is available on twitter with a quick search.

I’m not quite so sure what they mean by the last one as the majority of Celtic fans I know are Scottish, but logic doesn’t always come into play with this lot.

BBC journalist Micheal Stewart took to twitter and blasted the fans for this and his colleagues in the media for the blatant whitewash and lack of coverage this story should have received, “A group of guys on a bus singing racist chants are condemned and action taken.

“A larger group walk through a city chanting racist bile and appear to be escorted by police and nothing is done.

“How is this allowed to happen. Shameful.

“These are not isolated incidents. They happen far too often and are ignored, swept under the carpet and effectively accepted.

“The institutions, clubs and individuals in this country all need to do more. This shouldn’t be acceptable.”

This was almost backed up by Clyde 1 journalist Alison Conroy who did appear to condemn the Rangers support song book and chanting during the game:

But then amazingly backtracked and lumped fans of other clubs into this even though there was only one set of fans at the game!

At least Stewart had the balls to call it out unequivocally.

Will we see others follow suit?

Sadly, I wouldn’t hold my breath!
