The Bhoys face Alashkert later on this month in the Champions League and an almost familiar face will be apart of their squad.
Okay, I say almost because we never actually signed the guy but, as quoted by the Scottish Sun, Dino Skvorc says we came close to bringing him in back when Neil Lennon was in charge.
Here’s what he had to say:
“In 2010, I trained at Celtic for a week and they offered me a contract.
“However, my club in Croatia, Varazdin, demanded more than one million euros for my transfer, and the deal didn’t happen.
“It was a pity because my club was dissolved a few months later, but I didn’t hear anything else about Celtic.”
A midfielder, Skvorc is now in his prime years but back then he wouldn’t have been and would have been a young player.
Judging by his career since, it looks as though we probably haven’t missed much by not bringing him in.
Skvorc will be looking to put on a good display with this in mind.
He could have been a Bhoy but things seemed to fall through at the final hurdle.
Certainly, though, I don’t think we’re sat here saying what a missed opportunity with all due respect.
