New Celtic signing, Patryk Klimala, has been met with a mixed response from Hoops fans with the 21-year-old Poland under-21 international said to have agreed terms on a four and a half year contract from Jagiellonia Białystok as reported by the BBC Sport website.

Klimala is rumoured to be costing the Celts £3.5m as they look to secure a reliable back-up to Odsonne Edouard with both Leigh Griffiths and Vakoun Issouf Bayo failing to hit the heights this season, he may also be seen as a long term successor to Edouard with the Frenchman believed to be a £30m target of Leicester City.

The youngster has 7 goals in 18 appearances this season for Bialystok and little else is known about the forward with news outlets scrambling for former team-mates to give their judgements on the striker.

Will Patryk Klimala be a success at Celtic?

Celtic fans are unsure what to expect from Klimala with many wishing they had gone for a more known quantity in the shape of Lawrence Shankland at Dundee United.

Time will tell if Klimala is a success at Parkhead although, given the pressurised nature of footballing life in Glasgow and how close the Scottish Premiership title race is this season, time is a luxury that he probably won’t be afforded given the rumoured transfer fee,

  • Sorry chaps, but I have a bad feeling about this guy. Seems to be quite arrogant and have a very strong opinion of himself, which is ok if you’re Ibra, Messi or the arrogant prick that is Ronaldo, but he isn’t. If this is the best we can do, then we’d be as well to chuck it now. No doubt he’ll have a couple of good games, look good running around, we then let Griff go on loan, then this guy totally flops and we are left looking stupid at the end of another poor transfer window. If you are spending 3.5 mill on an untried player like this when you could have signed Shankland for 2 mill. Don’t get me wrong, Shankland is a decent player, but he’s not great. He knows the club, he knows Scottish football and he knows how to find the back of the nest. It would be a gamble at 2 mill, but were not exactly skint. Bayou cost 2 mill and look what he’s done. I just think this is a poor move by a board that is bereft of ideas and too concerned with the balance sheet and sell on fees than the trophy room. I hope I’m wrong but this reeks of desperation. Why didn’t we offer the asking price for Sporar, a proven goalscorer? Shades of John McGinn with Sporar, I think. We have a real and substantial challenge this year from the zombies, this is not the type of player we should be looking for. £3.5 million. I still can’t believe £3.5 million. We need a couple of battlers in the team, one Broony is not enough. I would be so happy to eat my words come May and I sincerely hope these words come back to haunt me. We deserve better.
