The Peter Lawwell appointment to the position of non-executive Chairman was met with a fairly mixed reaction over the weekend.

Whilst it is fair to say that the majority of Celtic fans treat the appointment with disdain, there are others that are fairly happy to see Lawwell back involved with the club considering the period of domestic dominance we witnessed under him as our CEO.

But times have moved on now and the partnership of Michael Nicholson and Ange Postecoglou is working for the club.

Could the appointment of Lawwell jeopardise that? Just how much can one man affect the running of a club the size of Celtic in the role that Lawwell now occupies?

Paul John Dykes thinks it could and he has expressed his concern at the appointment.

Speaking on BBC Sportsound, Dykes said, “The dominance and power was definitely there for all to see [during Lawwells tenure as CEO].

“If you look at his appointment back in 2003 the actual release stated that he would be involved in all non-footballing matters.

“Now, when you then fast forward to Steven Fletcher, John McGinn, these were footballing matters that he was definitely involved in.

“We were signing players under Brendan Rodgers and Rodgers was being interviewed about them and had no interest in them. Marian Shved for example.

“So there was far too much dominance on a footballing scale.

“And I think that is one of the main concerns I’ve got when he comes back in.

“His son is the Head of Recruitment.

“The recruitment has been excellent under Ange Postecoglou.

“And my main concern is that it’s going to change.”

Let’s hope not. Let’s hope that the fact Lawwell brought Ange to the club will mean that there is a mutual understanding between both men and that the incoming Chairman will leave all footballing matters to the man that really matters.

Ange Postecoglou.

The usual, Fletcher, McGinn are used to demonise Lawwell, but never a mention of Dembele, Frimpong, Eduard, and many others who have made Celtic an absolute fortune.

You seem to overlook the positivity brought to our club by Peter Lawwell. He is the main reason we are not a club in financial crisis. He is the main reason we function the way we do today.
He is Celtic through and through.
Then again, why would you want to write positive stuff when you can be negative instead eh?

Joe, I am reporting on what people are saying about the club. If you read the articles correctly, I have said on many occasions Lawwell deserves credit for our successes
