The Scottish media’s style when dealing with managers from outwith these shores is legendary.

I’m not so sure legendary is a word that fits here because it implies it’s a good thing, because it’s not.

There have been various Celtic managers that have felt the unprofessionalism and vindictiveness of the Scottish main stream media.

You can go as far back as Dr Jo Venglos. Venglos was publicly crucified by certain factions of the Scottish media for signing unknown quantity, Lubo Moravcik instead of John Spencer. We all remember the Hugh Keevins quote.

Wim Jansen was almost hung for signing Henrik Larsson after the Swede’s involvement in Celtic’s opening day defeat against Hibs on his debut.

Ronny Deila was a constant target for the press which was highlighted by former Rangers manager Mark Warburton here.

In short, Warburton said when he arrived in Glasgow to take over Rangers, “ I landed at Glasgow Airport and a very good journalist said to me, ‘There’s always a good cop and a bad cop in Glasgow.

He said, ‘Right now Ronny Deila is a bad cop, you won’t be able to do any wrong.’

And now, it seems, it is the turn of current Celtic boss, Ange Postecoglou.

Right from the off, the Scottish media showed nothing but contempt for the Aussie boss and Australian news channel ABC Sport compiled a brilliant video of Ange’s best one liners in a comedic and sarcastic swipe at the standard of media coverage in our country.

And it doesn’t miss a trick.

I wrote about Ange’s treatment by the press here and I still firmly believe there are those within the media that think he is fair game, especially when he is mimicked by a professional live radio broadcaster.

But one thing he has proved so far is he doesn’t suffer fools gladly.
