Having already given plenty of quotes to media at home and abroad over the last few days, the agent of Celtic defender Dedryck Boyata has made new claims about offers the Hoops have rejected for the defender recently.

Everyone knows that Fulham had an advance for the Belgian rejected last week, but Jacques Lichtenstein says that offers from Fenerbahce and Olympiakos have also been rejected, as reported by The Daily Mail.

As quoted by the paper, Boyata’s representative said:

Previously there was interest from Fulham, Olympiakos and Fenerbahce.

Offers of £7million and £8m – but apparently Celtic is financially strong enough not to go into that. It’s strange, because on the other hand, the club apparently does not have the money to make Dedryck a dignified new contract proposal.

Dedryck is currently slightly injured. He does not want to take the risk of making that injury worse, because in four months he can talk to any club about a free transfer.

It may seem silly to reject such high offers for the players given he has less than a year on his contract, but clearly the club feel there is enough competition for his signature to keep his value high.

If three clubs are putting offers on the table, then why would we immediately sell?

The decision makers at Celtic probably also assumed that the people involved in this scenario, chiefly Boyata and his agent, would act professionally and not claim minor injuries will rule him out of action for Celtic in the coming months.

Now that the situation has come to the head though, we would be foolish not to accept the next decent offer, with his agent intent on dragging Celtic through the mud.

Will we see an end to this saga soon?
