Dedryck Boyata has suggested recently that he is going to sign a new deal for the club in the pretty near future.
The centre-half seems happy enough at the club right now and it would make sense that he’s going to sign with us looking to get our contract business sorted before the transfer window really kicks off.
Let’s take a look at what he had to say – via Celtic Bible – and what the reaction from our fans was like – safe to say it’s mixed:
Dedryk Boyata has confirmed he is in talks with Celtic to sign a new contract.
He said: “I am in talks with the club. I have said it before that I am happy here.”
“I don’t want to say yes and then nothing happens later, but everything is just so positive.”

Boyata has had his moments but you can’t deny he is a pretty decent defender… I hope he stays. He’s started coming into his own lately

The Verdict
I’ll be honest, and I know I am at risk of getting a load of stick here, I actually think it’s worth him staying on for now.
Yes, he does make mistakes and has plenty to work on but there are the makings of a player with power and strength in defence.
If he could just simplify his game at times and use his head a bit more he’d be a very decent player and so I’d like Rodgers to see if he can work a bit more with him.
