As Celtic continues to grow its global scouting network, signing players from all over the world also means that the club gets that extra exposure in other countries.

Not that we need it to be fair. Celtic is already known as a global brand but as we have dipped our toe into the Asian market there are possible marketing opportunities opening up, especially in countries like Japan and South Korea.

And exactly that has happened.

The signing of Oh Hyeon-gyu in January has prompted SPOTV NOW to now broadcast all Celtic games in South Korea from April starting with the Ross County fixture after the international break.

A spokesperson for the channel said, “We decided to broadcast Oh Hyun-kyu’s game because there are many needs from football fans who want to watch the Korean leaguers in Europe.

“As existing overseas players such as Son Heung-min, Kim Min-jae, Lee Kang-in, and Hwang Hee-chan are performing outstandingly, we ask for the support of football fans so that Oh Hyun-kyu can also show good performances.” [Dalian]

This is great news for the club as this will offer another opportunity to help open up another revenue stream and give us exposure to a transfer market and players that we have already had experience of dipping into.

Who were Celtic’s most expensive transfers these seasons?
