As quoted by the Herald, AIK player Tarik Elyounoussi has effectively handed Neil Lennon his team talk for Thursday night as we go into the Europa League clash with the Swedish side.

The Bhoys find themselves two legs away from getting into the group stages of Europe’s secondary competition after losing out to Cluj in the Champions League qualifiers last week.

Even so, it’ll still be good to get into this competition and make a real go of it, but first we need to get the side from the Swedish capital out of the way.

It seems as though some of them, at least, are confident, too, with Elyounoussi providing his take on the Hoops.

He said:

“We will not be dazzled by Celtic.

“When you hear the name Celtic, you think they are a big team.

“But they lost four goals at home to Cluj and the Scottish league is not so good.

“We won’t be intimidated either by playing in their large stadium. We are all looking forward to facing them.”

It’s certainly a bold thing to say before such an important game for both sides.

It’s fair enough being confident to win a game but I always think when players say things so publicly they are setting themselves up for a fall.

Let’s hope the Hoops can instigate exactly that.
