Outrage as Lennon targeted

Both Celtic and Aberdeen have condemned those fans whose behaviour forced Parkhead boss Neil Lennon to leave the weekend League Cup semi-final early.

“It is totally unacceptable for the Celtic manager to be treated in this way” – Celtic spokesperson

The 42-year-old was subjected to being spat at and having coins thrown at him, in addition to verbal abuse as Aberdeen defeated St Johnstone 4-0 at Tynecastle.

“Clearly it is totally unacceptable for the Celtic manager to be treated in this way,” commented a Celtic spokesman, reports BBC Scotland. “Neil has complimented the way in which the situation was handled by stewarding staff at Tynecastle.

“We have an excellent relationship with Aberdeen Football Club and we are sure they will look into this matter.”
